Normandy, France, is a region steeped in the annals of military history, predominantly recognized for the pivotal D-Day landings of World War II. However, the windswept shores and verdant fields of this historic region hold memories of another, often overlooked chapter of American military history\u2014the resting place of Confederate sailors who fought and died far from the battlefields of the American Civil War.<\/p>
